The culminating event of the 2019 Postdoc Slam contest will feature engaging 3-minute talks by each of the 10 finalists in the competition, which challenges postdocs to present their research in a way that non-specialists will understand. The event will also be live-streamed to Parnassus (N 217), where attendees will also participate in audience voting and enjoy a reception. As the centerpiece of Postdoc Appreciation Week, the contest will be a celebration not only of the finalists and contest winner, but also of postdoc research at UCSF and of scientific enquiry.
Everyone in the UCSF community is welcome to attend, but this popular event – which also includes an audience trivia contest – fills up quickly, so show up a little early! There will be a reception and an announcement of the winners just after the talks.
Representatives of UCSF Advocates will be on hand at the Mission Bay event before the competition and during the reception to organize NIH social media advocacy as part of the Rally for Medical Research Digital Advocacy Day. Help ensure Congress knows NIH funding must be a priority in the federal budget!
