Graduate students may be nominated by their Program Directors for UCSF Graduate Division Awards, including Diversity Awards. Nominations are due in May for the following academic year. Unless otherwise stated, awards are open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and foreign nationals who are entering their first through sixth years of study with GPAs of 3.0 or better. Nominations are reviewed and ranked by the Graduate Council Fellowship Sub-Committee. All UCSF Graduate Division Fellowships are subject to the Graduate Division's terms and conditions.

- Academic research interests focusing on cultural, societal, or educational problems as they affect educationally disadvantaged segments of society; or
- Evidence of an intention to use the doctoral degree toward serving educationally underrepresented segments of society.
