Dr. Jin Kim Wins Inaugural Postdoc Slam

Warmest congratulations to Dr. Jin Kim for winning the first ever Postdoc Slam at UCSF, and to Dr. Navneet Matharu, runner-up, who was also selected as the "people's choice" winner by the audience present at the live Postdoc Slam event at Mission Bay on September 22. Kim's winning talk was entitled "Promoting Smoking Cessation by Addressing Food Insecurity," and Matharu's was "How to Balance your Satiety: From Sim(1) to Slim."


From everyone in the Graduate Division and the Office for Postdoctoral Scholars, sincere thanks to all of this year's finalists for giving us a glimpse at the fascinating work you do, and for putting so much effort into your dynamic talks. You put on a great show! Bravo!

The other finalists who competed in the live Postdoc Slam event were Burcu Hasdemir, Samantha Hindle, Alba Gonzalez Junca, Elena Minones-Moyano, Jeremiah Osteen, Travis Ruch, Ana Ruiz-Saenz, and Anthony Rush. Read more about the finalists.

Prizes for Postdoc Slam were $3,000 for the winner, $1,500 for the runner-up, and $750 for the people's choice award.
