Mental Health and Wellness in Graduate and Postdoc Populations

Date:
March 11, 2019
Time:
12 - 1:30 p.m.
Place:
Mission Bay - Mission Hall 1401

Join us for an open and necessary discussion about mental health and wellness in the graduate and postdoc trainee populations.

Open to all current UCSF graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. We will be creating a brave and supportive space for folks interested in sharing and listening within their personal comfort levels.

Our community event will facilitate an open, honest, and supportive discussion about mental health and wellness during graduate and postdoctoral training. Published data will be highlighted about mental health in the learner and scholar community, which shows an increased risk of depression and anxiety for racial and ethnic minority, transgender and/or gender-nonconforming populations in science. We will discuss what mental health challenges look like in the UCSF training community from several perspectives (graduate student, postdoctoral researcher, classmate, mentor, colleague, and friend). Small and large group conversations will be used to share relevant resources to foster a caring campus community.

Lunch will be provided.
