Join us as we get together virtually with colleagues at Stanford and Berkeley to discuss topics in open science. This month the Bay Area Open Science Group is learning about project-based training in reproducible and open science methods for undergraduates. In 2021, the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute piloted a "Rigor and Reproducibility Side-Projects" initiative as part of their Undergraduate Summer Research Program. Sixteen undergraduate students participated in four Meta-Research projects using open science methods. In this session Adrienne Mueller from Stanford will describe the structure of the side-projects initiative, its outcomes, and the benefits and challenges of using this practical approach to learning.

The Bay Area Open Science Group is intended to bring together students, faculty, and staff from the Stanford, UCSF, and Berkeley community to learn about open science, discuss the application of open science practices in a research context, and meet other members of the community who are interested in (or already are) incorporating open science practices into their work.
