Overview

Finance for Scientists is designed to give researchers an overview of financial statements and concepts in financial planning. Participants will learn and apply basic concepts of business finance (e.g. calculating burn rate, opportunity cost, and net present value) in academic and industry settings. This workshop is geared towards graduate students and postdocs pursuing a career in industry or business of science, or planning to start an academic lab. The concepts are applicable for social and population scientists interested in business, but the examples and case studies come from life science labs. Learn more about this series on iBiology.

This workshop is part of a three-workshop series on business concepts for scientists. If you take all three workshops, you can earn a certificate of completion. Learn more about the other two workshops in this series below.
