Postdoc Slam 2025

Join us for the 8th UCSF Postdoc Slam competition! Our popular research communication competition for postdocs is back, and we are planning an exciting event on Wed., Sept. 17, 2025, 4-6 p.m. PDT.

Seven to ten UCSF postdoc finalists will present their research in three minutes or less, in language accessible to a general audience. It's a celebration not only of the finalists and contest winner, but also of postdoctoral research at UCSF and of scientific inquiry. Postdoc Slam is a featured event in UCSF's National Postdoc Appreciation Week activities.

There will be two ways to attend:

In-Person: Byers Auditorium, Genentech Hall at Mission Bay. Advance registration is not required. Please sign in at the check-in table. (UCSF folks, please bring your ID to swipe.) Auditorium doors will open at 3:45 p.m; the program starts at 4 p.m. Be prompt to make sure you get a seat!

Online: The competition will be live-streamed broadly for remote viewers. (Link will be available here over the summer!)

Both in-person attendees and remote viewers will be able to cast a vote for the "People's Choice" award.

Cash prizes of $4,000, $2,000, and $1,000 will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners chosen by the panel of judges. And the audience will choose the "People's Choice" winner, who will receive $750. Finalists who do not win a cash prize will each receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
