"Chip Inside Me" Movie Screening and Panel Discussion • This award winning film is about five people with chip implants in their bodies. Where do scientific discoveries of recent decades take us, is it possible to control people with help of these technologies, and what neuroethical questions arise resulting from their use? World-class scientists argue about these topics in the film.  "Chip Inside Me" explores the important problem of destigmatization of cyborg people and ridding society of technophobia.

  • This film screening has been provided free of charge to UCSF for our NPAW week events.  No UCSF funds, PSA funds or Postdoc Office funds have been directed to the filmmakers nor to the Russian government in order to support this screening.
  • This film is about science, ethics and discrimination.  It is about the scientific and ethical considerations surrounding brain-computer interfaces (BCI), and about the discrimination faced by patients who use implant technologies to manage disability and disease.
  • The sponsors of this screening event stand by UCSF’s messaging about the war in Ukraine and its impact on members of our community.

Spotlight Postdocs on Zoom

Keep postdocs in the spotlight all week long with an NPAW Zoom virtual background!

Spotlight Challenge

We invite fans of postdocs to participate in our NPAW 2022 Spotlight Challenge!

Who: Any UCSF community member

What: UCSF postdocs are engaged in a wide range of research and community activities. During the week of NPAW, we challenge the UCSF community to spotlight the impacts – both big and small – that UCSF postdocs have made in the past year.

How:

  1. Reflect on something your postdoc(s) have discovered or contributed to your lab and/or research team’s discoveries OR share with one thing (or more!) that you appreciate about your postdoc(s).
  2. Write a summary or caption an image describing their discovery/contribution OR words of appreciation and encouragement.
  3. Share your message on Twitter or via email:

Two randomly selected spotlight challenge messages — one from Twitter and one from email — will be selected each day during the week of NPAW, winning a $10 Amazon gift card for the postdoc you are honoring! On Saturday September 24, there will be a final random lottery drawing, and two postdocs spotlighted via Twitter or email during the week of NPAW will each win a $75 Amazon Gift Card!
