Position Description:
The Smith Lab at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking two ambitious postdoctoral researchers to study the development and plasticity of neural circuits underlying sensory processing in mammals. The projects will employ state-of-the-art in vivo imaging, optogenetics, electrophysiology, and behavioral assays to investigate how experience reshapes circuit connectivity and function. The successful candidates will join a dynamic, collaborative lab and have the opportunity to craft independent research projects with direct mentorship toward future academic or industry careers.
Position Qualifications:
PhD (or equivalent) in Neuroscience, Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field
Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: two-photon imaging, optogenetics/chemogenetics, in vivo electrophysiology, rodent behavioral experiments
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong record of productivity and teamwork
Candidates with experience in computational analysis of neural data or machine learning applied to neural systems are strongly encouraged to apply
